G Daniel Building & Maintenance Ltd is established! Having worked in the building trade all his life Gareth Daniel – Director – armed with 14 years of knowledge and experience makes the leap to form his own company with the aim of providing an ‘all encompassing’ building service. Later that year he won his first ‘new build’ project – a fantastic chalet bungalow style property in the pretty riverside town of Wareham.
The company is invited to start working with Goadsby residential – assisting their property management department undertake a wide range of property maintenance works for their large portfolio of landlords through Dorset and Hampshire and beyond.
A large-scale renovation project starts in April of 2013, again in Wareham. This two-bedroom bungalow was partly demolished leaving all but 3 walls to make room for a beautiful contemporary 5-bedroom family home.
As the reputation of the company begins to spread, the company starts managing general maintenance works at two luxury properties in Sandbanks, dealing with day-to-day issues and liaising with owners based mainly overseas.
2014 saw several single and double storey extensions take place in Ringwood, Southbourne and Bearwood for clients who felt their properties had the potential for expansion.
Another letting agent was added to the company’s list of clients – again undertaking property maintenance issues of behalf of Landlords. Works also began on a very exciting project – a grade II listed building in Branksome Park. Owned by world renowned Architect – this project involved the refurbishment of the highly acclaimed single story residential property.
The year began with the construction of a new purpose built MOT bay for Simon Hartwell Citroen in Ferndown. The car dealership out-grew their original MOT area and with space available within the premises, the company was awarded the project to create a more ‘fit for purpose’ area for the client to be able to extend the services they were able to offer.
Works steadily continue with Goadbsy letting agents with the addition of refurbishment works on two blocks of flats for Goadsby’s building consultancy department.
A 64-bed block in central Bournemouth required complete refurbishment from the ground up in readiness for the student let market. In Boscombe, an 8-bed block was also renovated, top to bottom, internally and externally in order to make the property more marketable.
More large scale refurbishment works continued to take place for Goadsby on another block of flats within central Bournemouth and a commercial property in Southampton.
The year also saw the development of a new build property in Upton, Poole – a semi detached 3-bedroom house for a client who purchase the house next door with the intention to develop. 2 further renovations took place for clients in Ringwood and Wimborne. Both residential properties had huge potential and the aim to create a more open plan ‘workable’ living space was definitely achieved in these 2 stunning homes.
Ben Lewis joined the team as site manager extraordinaire – Gareth Daniel’s right hand man. He has proven to be an absolute asset to the company and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of the building trade with him. The end of the year saw the start of an exclusive development of 4 new residential properties set within the grounds of the original school in the small village of Pimperne, near Blandford.
The properties at the development near Blandford really start to take shape and its clear that their contemporary design without losing the character and charm of local properties within the area will make them very sought after. Completion is due October 2017.
The start of the summer see’s another impressive project begin – the external decoration of a large residential block on Bath hill, Bournemouth. With the addition of roofing works – all external areas required decoration to ensure the building is protected against the weather and all the problems it causes due to the close proximity to Bournemouth’s beautiful coastline.
As the houses in Pimperne are completed, so starts 4 further new builds within the Blandford area, this time in a central location on the site of an old public house. 3 terraced houses and a 4-bedroom family home all with off road parking and modern features throughout are scheduled for completion in the spring of 2018.
2018 started with the completion of the site in central Blandford, achieved on time and on budget, in May. Several residential refurbishments in Wimborne and Poole followed along with work in partnership with a property maintenance company on properties across Sandbanks, in Poole. The latter half of the year saw work begin on a project in Upton again in Poole. The development involved demolition of garages to the rear of an existing residential dwelling, building three terrace properties in place and finally converting the existing property, two flats, into two houses.
The vast majority of the year was dedicated to the project at Upton. The build continues well and our team of subcontractors work hard to deliver 5 exceptional properties in September of this year. Alongside, we undertake extensive property renovations for a client in Lilliput and the end of the year brings a single storey extension including structural work on a fabulous townhouse in Winchester.
Wow, what a start to the year, one that no one expected! At the beginning of the year we were awarded a large-scale refurbishment of a 3-bedroom property in Branksome, Poole. The brief was to completely renovate the 1960’s property to a modern, spacious house. Luckily, work can continue whilst the government lockdown is imposed albeit at a slower pace to ensure all our team stay safe and can social distance. The project comes to an end in September and the result is superb! Alongside this, extensive maintenance and refurbishments of flats and high-end homes in Sandbanks continue.
